The judges have now made their decisions and the prizewinners were announced, and the prizes awarded, on Sunday 13th October.

Della Galton, widely published writer of novels and short stories, will judge the short story competition and present the prizes. She will be holding a workshop entitled 'How to write and sell Short Stories' on Sunday 13th October
● Poetry and Short Story
First Prize £500, Second Prize £200, Third Prize £100. In addition there is the Wyvern Prize of £100 for entrants living in the BA, BS, and TA postcodes.
● Crime Novel (our fastest growing competition!)
The winning entry will be read by a major publisher and by a leading agent. In addition there will be a cash prize of £100. The judge may also arrange for an exceptional runner-up entry to be read by an agent or a publisher.
Prizegiving SUNDAY 13TH OCTOBER
At 2.30pm there is a full reading of all the shortlisted poems. Authors are encouraged to come and read their own, and there will be readers available for those poems whose authors cannot be present. The programme containing all 27 shortlisted poems is available from Waterstones or from the Museum. Anyone is welcome to attend though the room only holds about 100.
4pm - Bishop's Palace (Lecture Room )
Sean Borodale will award the Poetry Prizes, Della Galton the Short Story Prizes, and Janet Laurence the Crime Novel prizes.
Entry for this event is by programme, available from Wells Museum from September 19th. The programme will contain all the shortlisted poems and costs £2. Purchase of the programme entitles you to vote for the Festival's Favourite Poet provided that votes are entered before (or at) the start of the Prize-Giving.
Refreshments are available before the event from the Bishop's Table
